Description
The Fabyan Villa Museum and Japanese Garden 2016 season will be from May 1 till October 13. The Villa Museum and Japanese Garden are both located within Fabyan West Forest Preserve off Route 31 in Geneva.
The Fabyan Villa Museum was the former home of George and Nelle Fabyan from 1905-1939 and was re-designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1907. When visiting the Villa Museum, now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, you will discover the Fabyans’ uniquely fascinating legacy. The Frank Lloyd Wright Prairie-style house contains the Fabyans’ private collection of Asian artifacts, natural history specimens, original furniture and more!
The museum will be open for guided 40 minute tours every half hour from 1 - 4:00 pm on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The Villa will also be open on Thursdays from 1-4 pm June through August. Thursdays are family days at the museum where museum orientated games are available as well as self guided tours. Don't forget your Passport to Adventure booklet!
The peaceful grounds of the Fabyan Japanese Garden, created in 1910, will be open for quiet strolling from 1 - 4:30 pm on Sundays, 1-4pm on Wednesdays and 1-4pm on Thursdays (June through August). Self guided brochures are available in the garden to enhance the visitor experience. Please note: The Japanese Garden is NOT open on Saturdays as it is reserved for weddings and photography sessions.
