Upon registering to walk, online you will get a free ($0.00) ticket. We are counting on walkers to gather donations to support their walk. Donations can be done online at www.fopwalk.org to make this easier for walkers or for those who can't walk that day but want to support their neighbors in need.

Description
The SVDP Friends of the Poor Walk is a fun family event to raise awareness of poverty in our community and to raise funds to help those in our community who are suffering from economic hardship. The St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVDP) from St. Peter Church is one of hundreds of SVDP Conferences across the US hosting a walk on September 21, 2024. Our St. Peter group is co-hosting this walk at Fabyan Forest Preserve in Geneva along with other SVDP Conferences from churches in our Southeast SVDP District in the Rockford Diocese. These include St. Patrick Church, St. John Neumann Church, and Holy Cross Church plus several others in Aurora, Elburn, and Sugar Grove.
REGISTERING - VERY IMPORTANT! Since this is a Walk with several SVDP Conferences joining together, first Select Illinois, then find the Southeast District Council-Rockford, and you can click the Register button and/or the Donate button. Soon you will be asked what SVDP Conference you are walking with--choose St. Peter Geneva so you will be counted as one of our team.
DONATIONS - VERY IMPORTANT!! When making a donation please remember to select St. Perter Geneva from the "Designation" drop down box directly below the donation amount. This is the only way we will know to allocate your donation to our parish conference.

Registration begins at 8:30 AM. At 9 AM we will gather for a prayer, a group photo and drawing for door prizes.
Upon arrival at the check in table there will be a list of online registrants. Please check off your name and obtain a door prize ticket. Door prizes from the Geneva Chamber of Commerce and State Street Jewelers will be announced just before the Walk begins. Winners must be present when the prize tickets are drawn.
For those who did not register online there will be paper registration forms in English and Spanish.
There is no set route. You may walk to the north or the south for as little or as long as you would like.
For safety, we encourage everyone to walk with a buddy. If you plan to walk solo please let me know. I will ask that you check in with me at the end of your walk so I know you made it back safely. Conference presidents or treasurers who are walking, please stop and pick up the donations for your conference before leaving.
We will provide bottled water and a semi-healthy snack.
