The Illinois Human Rights Act (“IHRA”) was recently amended requiring all Illinois employers to provide annual sexual harassment prevention training by December 31, 2020, and annually thereafter. The following Harassment Prevention Training Programs exceed the minimum training standards for training as required by the IRHA. All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation that should be retained by their employer as documentation of compliance. Please note that these programs are offered in-person and in English and includes all the supplemental training components for restaurants and bars as required by the IHRA. A Spanish language option is available and will be provided upon advance request.
This program is designed for owners, managers and supervisors in any industry, including the restaurant and bar industries, with a specific focus on how to address and prevent harassment in the workplace, respond to and investigate harassment complaints, review unique issues that arise in restaurants and bars with managers, co-workers, customers and vendors, and effectively implement corrective measures as needed to ensure a harassment-free workplace. This program also includes a special “Train the Trainer” component to prepare owners, managers and supervisors to provide harassment prevention training that complies with the IHRA to all of their employees.
This program exceeds the minimum training standards for harassment prevention training as required by the IHRA and includes the following:
- Explanation of sexual harassment and other forms of harassment consistent with standard company policies (available in English and Spanish), the IHRA and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act;
- Examples of conduct that constitutes unlawful sexual harassment and other forms of harassment, including presentation of videos and interactive activities related to common issues and challenges found in many businesses as well as unique issues and challenges found in the restaurant and bar industries;
- Review of relevant federal and state statutory provisions concerning sexual harassment and other forms of harassment, including remedies available to victims of harassment and a detailed discussion of management liability and responsibilities under the law; and
- Summary of responsibilities of employers in the prevention, investigation, and corrective measures of sexual harassment and other forms of harassment.
