  • Legend has it that Kubb dates back to the Swedish Viking Age, and was played with the skulls and femurs of their vanquished enemies. Rest assured, the game today is played with Kubbs (skulls) and Batons (femurs) made entirely of wood. The world championship for this lawn game is still played on the Swedish island of Gotland, and is quickly gaining popularity in the US. Please join us for a demonstration of this game at 11:30 am, followed by an actual game at 1 pm. (Sat. 11:30 am & 1 pm)
  • Swedish Days stories with Geneva Public Library. Sponsored by Geneva Public Library. (Sat., 12 & 2 pm)
  • Swedish Folk will entertain with a great variety of old time Scandinavian folk and dance music performed on accordion, violin and guitar. (Sat. 3 pm)
  • Enjoy traditional Scandinavian dancing with Nordic Folk Dancers of Chicago. The audience will be encouraged to participate. Sponsored by The Gift Box/Scandinavian Imports in Geneva, Illinois (Sat. 4 p.m.)
  • The award-winning Swedish quintet Jaerv, present an extroverted, vigorous and heartfelt folk music performance with influences from both jazz and pop music. Together, the five members have created a homogeneous, vivid sound which has established Jaerv on the folk music scene as well as in many other forums. Rooted in several different musical traditions, Jaerv offers a varied stage performance where vocal, five-voiced tunes blend in with energetic dances and free improvisations. Jaerv is an internationally well-known act and has toured the U.S., Japan, Spain, Scotland, Ireland, Finland and Norway among other countries. (Sun. 11 am)
  • Performing on Sunday is Chicago Spelmanslag, Chicago area's very own "hometown" Scandinavian Folk Band. (Sun. 12 pm)
  • Gather information, pick up some goodies and learn more about Vasa Park. We have been in the community for 65 years and you will get a bookmark of all of our upcoming events. (Sat.)
  • Authentically-dressed Viking living historians from the 1893 Chicago Columbian Exposition Viking Ship in Geneva will be present with their displays to discuss Viking clothing, tools, weapons, artwork and jewelry and ship models promoting appreciation of the Viking Ship. The ship itself, located in Good Templar Park, will be open for visitors on the weekend from 1-4 p.m. (Sat. & Sun.)
  • Do you have Swedish ancestry? The Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center has helped thousands of Swedish Americans find information about their immigrant ancestors since 1981. Using our extensive resources, we have connected Americans with their ancestral home parishes in Sweden and even with living Swedish relatives. We can also be hired for Swedish-to-English translations. We publish Swedish American Genealogist - the only journal in the field of Swedish-American genealogy. Come by our booth to learn more! (Sat. & Sun.)
