Dean Delray is a case study of turning passion into a labor of love, merging his affinity with music and comedy into a thriving career on stage and a growing podcast network. When he’s not talking to musicians on his podcast, Let There Be Talk, chances are he is headed to his next stand up comedy gig, having performed almost 5,000 times over the past 12 years.

Delray has been a fan of comedy from his early years, taking in work of the greats like Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Cheech & Chong and the early Saturday Night Live gang. Delray’s path to the comedy stage started at open mic nights, honing his no-holds-barred and hard-livin' perspective that has earned him feature spots on The Joe Rogan Experience, WTF with Marc Maron, You Made it Weird with Pete Holmes and recently opening for Metallica at their 40th Anniversary concert. This foray into comedy led to the launch of Let There Be Talk, a podcast that features raw, unfiltered, off-the-cuff conversations that offer deep insights with a diverse mix of engaging personalities from the worlds of music, film, TV, comedy and more. The history 
The first event was held on Sunday, June 25, 1911 at Linden Park in Evanston. The  The next year, 1912, it was held on Sunday the 23rd of June at Riesig Grove in Riverside. Then in 1913, Swedish Day was held at Ravinia Park for the next 11 years through 1924 when the organization decided to purchase their own property.  We acquired our current location and have celebrated Swedish Day annually every third Sunday in June since 1925 here at Good Templar Park in Geneva.

The events original name was Svenskarnas Dag (translation Swedish Day) has provided an opportunity for the numerous Scandinavian immigrants to enjoy the traditional celebration of Midsommar. This annual celebration family festival at Good Templar Park is open to the public and attended by people of all nationalities, this festival focuses on the Scandinavian celebration of Midsommar, the longest day of the year.

She’s a graduate of The Second City Chicago's Comedy Writing Program and loves weaving together jokes with crowdwork and improvisation. Katie won the inaugural Chicago Comedy Championship as well as the Smoke Break Comedy Competition early in her pursuit of comedy. Pete Lee was the first standup comedian to get a standing ovation on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. This happened after Jimmy personally attended one of Pete’s live shows in NYC and immediately invited him on the show. Pete’s joyful humor comes from his Midwestern roots. Raised in Janesville, WI by divorced parents and a 19-inch television, he was destined to pursue a career in entertainment. In 2005, Pete flew to New York to make his television debut on Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, and the taping went so well that he decided to move to NYC. Soon after moving to NYC, he was selected to perform at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, where he was voted a standout performer. In 2008 Pete made his network television debut performing on NBC’s Last Comic Standing finishing as a semi-finalist. That same year, he made his television acting debut on the CBS Soap Opera As The World Turns. At the end of 2008, he shot his own Comedy Central Half Hour Special, which earned him a cult following at comedy clubs, and the opportunity to perform over the next ten years at 500 colleges across the country. 

In 2010 Pete began producing and editing his own shows for the Internet which led to getting his own web show on MSN.com called New York Minute:30. His web shows attracted the attention of television talent scouts and in 2012 he was hired to be a writer and cast member on FUSE TV’s Video on Trial and the NFL Network’s Top 10’s. In 2013, Pete was hired as a cast member on VH1’s Best Week Ever, where he was a writer and cast member for three seasons. That same year, he made his late night television debut on CBS’s Late Show with David Letterman. 

Currently, Pete is a cast member of TruTV’s Greatest Ever and he hosts his own segment on Nickelodeon’s Nick Toons, in co-ordination with the NFL, called NFL Rush. He’s also a regular on TruTV’s Comedy Knockout and Comedy Central’s Roast Battle. And he starred in a documentary titled I Need You to Kill that is now available on iTunes and Amazon.

The Queen of Hearts is a progressive 50/50 raffle where players buy tickets for a chance to find the Queen and win the jackpot.  Proceeds benefit Tri City Health Partnership. Tickets are $5 each and are bing sold at Sturdy Shelter Brewing. You must be 18 years or older to play.

The goal is to choose a number on the sealed game board that you believe holds the Queen of Hearts card. The Queen of Hearts is hidden among 54 numbered cards in the sealed board. Each one holds a card from the deck. 2 jokers are included in the deck.

Each Monday, a drawing will be held at 7:30 PM and one player’s ticket will be randomly selected. The game board number written on the player's ticket will then be opened to reveal the playing card. If the revealed playing card is the Queen of Hearts, the player wins the grand prize and will be paid 50% of the pot. The other 50% goes to Tri City Health Partnership.If the revealed playing card is not the Queen of Hearts, the jackpot pot rolls over to the next week, and all raffle tickets for that drawing are destroyed.

Performers: Sign up online from Wednesday at 10 AM to Monday at noon to secure your spot on stage.

Spots fill up fast, so don’t wait!

Doors open at 7:30 PM, and as always, admission is free with a 2-item minimum (no exceptions!). Grab a drink, enjoy some great food, and settle in for a night of comedy gold. 

This is an non-ticketed event — no reservations required (unless you're performing)!
Anyone who’d like to attend can simply come right in. The event is 18+ only.
